Here's a sound clip i did with my 5150 combo and a 4x12 Marshall cab hooked up to the external speaker jack. I mic'd the 4x12 cab for the recording.

Thanks man, that freakin jammed. I was really wondering what a 5150 head would sound like through a marshall cab

VHoloic,

That is a great 'eddie' tone you have going!!!

Is that just your 5150 combo, no FX?

LOL, that's great 'PR' man, I've been searching for 'virgin' Peavey 5150 soundbyte for the longest while. There's a 5150 II and matching peavey 5150 cab that i've had my eye on and it's up for auction shortly. I can't try it out (though i've been assured it is in perfect working order)........

You, my man, are the catalyst for my decision to go for it. Should kick the shit outta my Peavey Classic 50 4/10. Smile

BTW, what guitar and tuning are u using?

Cheers

Chris

Thanks inter! It's just the stock 5150 combo and i have it hooked up to my Marshall cab loaded with 25 watt Celestion Greenback reissue speakers. I added a little bit of reverb and delay afterwards in the mix using my Cakewalk program. The guitar i used was a Kramer Striker with a Seymour Duncan 59 in the bridge. Good luck with your purchase. It's definitely an incredible amp!!

hey guys just to let you know a 5150 head or 5150 II head sounds different from the combo with a marshall vintage cab Wink
the combo 5150 is biased different for a creamier tone.
I use the combo as my head with a 5150 cab loaded with greenbacks and it sounds very vintage VH Cool

A lot of people play the riffs but stylistically you've actually copped the feel and vibe of the originals. And you didn't fall into the common trap with the 5150 of cranking the gain too high for those old songs. You've done your homework. The VH mojo is there. -kudos

Cool

I had them still hooked up for this clip. I was unsure of that also when i first hooked it up. I just recently tried unhooking the peavey speakers and just using the Marshall 4x12 hooked up to the 16 ohm input on the back of the combo and it works fine. My cab is also 16ohms.
